Year 7 Induction
Year 7 join us for an additional day in September at the start of their first year at Ash Manor so they can experience life at secondary school without all the older students. This year, we welcomed Year 7 on Tuesday 2nd September and they already knew exactly how to behave for Ms Bailey’s welcome assembly. What a great start!
Students then spent the morning with their form tutors, having a tour of the school and learning how the canteen payment system works. They also got to know their new tutor group and were taught how to read their timetables. The rest of the day was spent in normal lessons, experiencing what learning at Ash Manor is all about.
For the first two weeks at Ash Manor, Year 7 are collected from the playground and escorted to their lessons. This is so that they learn where each of their classrooms are and to hopefully avoid anyone getting lost. Additionally for their first week, Year 7s are allowed out of lessons slightly early at lunch time, in order to get through the canteen. It is such an exciting experience, being able to select and buy what you want for lunch, that we allow the new students a bit of extra time to choose.
Class of 2030 have had a brilliant first few weeks!
