Transition

Spring Visit Day

All Year 6 students who are offered a place at Ash Manor are invited for a visit with their parents in the Spring before they start. This involves a short talk from Ms Bailey before having a tour of the school with some of our existing Year 7 students. Year 6s will then have the opportunity to experience an Ash Manor lesson whilst their parents find out more information from the Headteacher and have the opportunity to ask questions and meet senior staff, including the SENCO.

We really hope that this day will help students and parents feel confident that they have selected the right school.

Summer Transition Days

Every July, all Year 6 students who are coming to Ash Manor the following September are invited to attend two transition days where they experience secondary school life. Students come in their primary school uniforms, but are placed in their new tutor groups and will meet the students, and many of the teachers who they will spend much of their time with the following year. Year 6s attend a range of lessons over the two days, including PE, and get to experience lunch in the canteen.

The transition days are supported by our Senior Students and Subject Ambassadors, who are excellent young leaders and able to answer all the questions, having been through the transition process themselves. These two days give the Year 6s a real confidence boost, so that they know a little more of what to expect when they start with us in September.

The transition days are followed by a Transition Information Evening for parents and carers, where there is an opportunity hear from Ms Bailey, and find out about the routines and systems in school. Families will also meet the pastoral team who will support students through their time at Ash Manor, the form tutors and members of the House team.
