Maths Department
KS3 Mathematics:
We cover topics in the 4 main strands:
• Number
• Algebra
• Shape and Measures
• Data Handling
We also develop student problem solving and functional skills through group and project work
How is our child set in Mathematics:
Your child has been initially been set in Maths based on information collated from their feeder primary school. The students are continuous assessed and each teacher will adjust teaching according to individuals in their class.
Assessment:
Students will complete Topic Assessments completed every 2/3 weeks, which inform the student, member of staff and parents on the progress their child is making. Further, the students will complete formal assessments during the year.
Home Learning:
Students will be set one piece of Home Learning a week. The Home Learning will take the form of a written worksheet or be attached to the task on www.showmyhomework.co.uk.
There are Home Learning Clubs every night of the week to support any students requiring assistance in the LRC. Furthermore, there are several online resources that the students are able to access www.mymaths.co.uk and www.vle.mathswatch.com. Students have the log in information required on a sticker in their planners..
