Final parade is usually a time to celebrate everyone’s achievements for the skills they had accomplished over the past year. The week before final parade was a time to prepare the drill sequence for everyone. The drill team was a little bit different to the rest of the contingent but it was still in need to look its best. Everyone was excited for final parade as it is the highlight of the cadet year along with the remembrance parade and the camps.
On the first of July 2019, the cadets were let out of lesson early to prepare for the parade taken place at 1530. We polished our cap badges and boots and did a run through of the drill and then waited patiently around the corner, out of sight, for the audience to be ready and the parade to commence. First the contingent except the drill team marched to the place where they would stand for the ceremony.
Then it was the drill teams turn to show the audience what we had been doing the past year. The sequence contained a few left and right turnings on the march, saluting to the left, right and front, wheels and about turns finished off with a halt.
Some of the army officers visiting us were impressed with our performance. Then it was time for the ceremony as we marched into place, joining the contingent. The people who would be receiving awards would be presented the certificate by one of the officers attending our parade.
First of all, Ms Bailey welcomed our families and visitors to the event recapping on the large number of things we accomplished in the past year. She congratulated us and before long the presentation had begun.

There were awards for expeditions, skill of arms, first aid, fieldcraft and lots more. A lot of people were receiving certificates from year 7 to 11. These were just for the lessons that we have taken part in over the past year. There were certificates for those who had completed the CFIT instructor course.
After all the groups certificates were given out, there was the singular awards for best cadet and most improved (e.g.). Then there were promotions. Promotions are very popular in our cadet force as a lot of people like the fact that there is a rank slide to wear on their uniform.
There were six promotions and everyone applauded them like they did for everyone who received an award.

Soon afterwards, we marched back around the corner of the school, away from the crowd and relaxed. After being personally congratulated we went towards the main hall to see our family and friends. Refreshments were being served also in the hall.
Overall final parade was very successful and well done to everyone who took part and received an award!
